涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu
I have never though that I would watch an anime about school girls because my taste usually range from stuff with mechs and loads of action. Seeing so many people interested in the anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu and it’s line of figure got me curious and after some recommendation from friends I decided to give it a try.
I guess lot of people didn’t continue watching the series after the first episode, since it’s not the best benchmark to judge the rest of the series but it really got me hook. The first episode was so funny that I decided to continue watching the rest. Though watching it in anachronically can be a bit confusing at times but somehow the story does makes sense. After finish watching the anime, I officially join the rest of the Haruhiists out there and start buying anything that have to do with Haruhi ^^, well not that bad actually since I just bought the figures ^^.
Now kinda strange that I would write about anime right, since I have never done that on my blog, well read on to know why
Haruhi: Hmmmm… what’s that over there, looks interesting, let’s check it out Mikuru, Yuki.
Mikuru: Are you sure Haruhi? It looks dangerous….
Yuki: …
Haruhi: Come on Mikuru!
Haruhi: Hmmm it’s so colorful, I wonder what’s inside, maybe it’s alien or esper or time traveler.
Mikuru standing there looking at the thing and shaking while Yuki just stands there. Haruhi is just too excited at finding that strange thing.
Haruhi: Mikuru, Yuki, do your things, I want to see what’s inside!!
Yuki: …

Haruhi: Inside is the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya DVD Vol. 1, Hare Hare Yukai CD, a double sided pencil board, an exclusive iron on and a bigger version of my favourite ribbon. Wow that’s a lot of stuff.
There, this is what this post is about, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya DVD 1 (Hyb) Special Limited Edition and also the first original anime dvd that I bought. I bought this about 2 weeks ago from Rightstuf when it was on sale for half of the retail price. Including shipping it cost me USD53.99 which I feel is quite a decent price, considering it comes with a nice box that you can use to store the rest of the dvds and cds, and also the other extra stuff.
I have never buy any anime dvd until now as original anime dvd are not available locally, all we get is bootleg from Taiwan and Hong Kong which are usually badly subbed. I have never thought of buying online either until aka_ugly introduce me to the site Rightstuf. Their normal price item is expensive for me but for those items on sales the price is just nice, and the shipping fees is not too expensive either and takes about 2 weeks to arrive which is pretty good for me.
I have already ordered Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya DVD 2 (Hyb) Special Limited Edition, but from Amazon instead since it was cheaper and also they have Evangelion Platinum version that I wanted. Both should arrive next week since I use priority shipping, more expensive but since both dvd cost me quite a lot, I want to get it ASAP ^^.

I hesitate to order it, since considering box 2 and 3, that will make a lot of money
And well, I still hope that one day some French companies will buy Haruhi’s licence and produce the same kind of package for us, poor frenchies ;_;
I’m used to read english subs, but when it comes to buy DVDs, I prefer having my good old mother language on the screen hehe.

i only have haruhi (3rd batch) out of the three. waiting for ryouko and tsuruya (maxfac official pics come out faster!) watched the anime when it started airing more than a year ago. at that time, i didn’t realize it would explode to such proportions XD
indeed, most people find that the first episode is a bit hard to digest. i thought it was brilliantly produced and showed of that amateurish work with a professional finish (one of my favourite episodes) planning to get the R1 LEs too. hope they don’t sell out before i have some spare cash to get them.
@lu-k~my plan was to get just the limited ed. for box 1 and the rest normal edition, but just can’t resist getting the rest of the box after i got this. I definitely don’t want malay sub on this haha, english sub all the way for me ^^

@rain~I am one of those late comer, only watch the anime like a month ago i guess, and starts to get the figures after that. Yeah I find the first episode interesting and funny, not to mention I like Mikuru out of all the three. Well if Rightstuf have sales again you can get it from there, at half the normal price is really cheap.

That box set is really awesome with all its compartments and doodads. I love that there’s different artwork on every side of the box. And when you finally get around to watching the DVD’s (^^;) you’ll see that they have a decent amount of extra content as well (^_^)d
One question though. Where’s the pic of you wearing the headband?
Suzumiya Haruhi is one of my favorite animes. I’ve got the special edition of DVD 2 and it’s got got some great extras. Now I need to find the 1st one, looks like it’s worth it.

Haruhi is already draining me like crazy… I got the R2 LE dvds ^^. But from the looks of it, the R1s are a good investment too XD

I’d say go for broke and go for limited versions all the way since you’ve already started ^^b They always seem to be nicer and looks damned great as a collection anyway. But really, this post IS missing a pic of you with the headband, don’t waste it man. I’ve seen guys wearing the headband at my recent con as well =D~
